It's Super De-Duper Tuesday!!

If you live in… Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, or Utah … and your registration allows, you best GO VOTE!

Otherwise, you deserve neither to complain or merely express an opinion about any policy issue or state of affair. If it were up to me, not voting would be tantamount to losing a good deal of rights as a citizen. That’s right. If it were up to me and you didn’t vote, then no habeas corpus for you!

Oh, well I guess that’s a bad example… but anyway, here’s a rundown of some links to get you primed and ready for SUPER DE-DUPER TUESDAY!

  • The New York Times’ election guide is always quality, but their Super De-Duper Tuesday preview is especially good.
  • Eight questions Super De-Duper Tuesday could answer
  • The king o’ the left side of the blogosphere offered his predictions last night. If you’re a proud, foaming-at-the-mouth liberal like myself, definitely check out DailyKos throughout the night. The reaction there always gives a good indication of how the left is reacting.
  • If you’re of the other political persuasion, you’ll probably just be watching Fox News. I’m sure Sean Hannity will tell you how to react :)
  • The bellweather states, in my opinion: California, Connecticut, Missouri, and Alabama
    • The L.A. Times expounds on the ever evasive youth vote
  • As expected, expectations are being tamped down.
  • I personally believe (along with everybody else…) that February 5th will leave us with John McCain as the strong frontrunner for the Republicans but will not settle the race for the Dems. So, on to February 12th and the Battle in the Chesapeake!
  • I’m not sure, but I think the city of New York might be a bit preoccupied this morning :)

GO GIANTS!!!

In response to that picture: “Duurrrhh!!! I wins at a football! Yaaay! Eli is da winner!”

    Go vote, you lazy sacks.

Sorry, I am convinced that at the federal level voting is a charade, a meaningless affair except as a method of deluding the masses that the federal government is not of for and by an elite ruling class.

You’re an idiot! Having the right to vote implies choice. When did rights become obligations. All this would do is force people to vote for candidates without knowing where they stand. Even the politicians we put in office have the right to abstain from voting.

    ^^^^^I agree with this guy

“You’re an idiot! Having the right to vote implies choice. When did rights become obligations. All this would do is force people to vote for candidates without knowing where they stand. Even the politicians we put in office have the right to abstain from voting.”

Oh please. Abstinence from the democratic process is laziness. Yes it is a “choice” in the simplest sense of the word, but it is by no means a statement. Throwing one’s hands up and abstaining from the process because you don’t like the candidates is WEAK. On every ballot there is a spot for a write-in. Every citizen has the opportunity to run for office, campaign for a candidate, or influence the process if they so choose.

Cynicism leads to nothing except being further overrun by morons in elected positions. Your abstinence and cynicism are what has gone wrong with our democracy.
